Moves we handle
- cPanel to cPanel between hosting companies.
- Shared hosting to a VPS (we can set up the server: PHP-FPM, OPcache, HTTPS, backups).
- ExpressionEngine moves, including the path, URL and cookie settings EE stores in its config and database.
- WordPress and custom PHP sites, with their databases and scheduled tasks.
- Email: we flag what needs moving if your email is on the same server.
Setting up the new server properly
A move is the right time to fix the foundations. For ExpressionEngine, the EE7 docs recommend PHP 8.2 with PHP-FPM, MySQL 5.6 or newer (or MariaDB), and the GD, fileinfo, ZIP, iconv and mbstring extensions. On Apache, clean URLs need AcceptPathInfo turned on. We also set up HTTPS, security headers, caching and off-server backups. See our EE hosting requirements guide.
How it works
- 1
Inventory
Sites, databases, cron jobs, email and DNS records listed.
- 2
Prepare the new server
PHP version, extensions, HTTPS and backups configured.
- 3
Copy and test
Files and database copied; the site tested on the new server before DNS changes.
- 4
Switch DNS
In your quietest hour, with a final database sync.
- 5
Watch
Error logs, forms and email checked over the following days.
