Add-on development

Custom ExpressionEngine Add-on Development

We build custom ExpressionEngine add-ons for EE6 and EE7: modules, fieldtypes, extensions, template tags and integrations with your CRM or other systems. We also update abandoned add-ons so they run on EE7 and PHP 8. Small add-ons from $600, usually delivered in one to three weeks.

What we build

  • Fieldtypes: custom fields for editors, built the EE way, so they work in Grid and Fluid fields.
  • Modules and template tags: custom data, listings and logic you can use in templates.
  • Extensions: hooks into EE's behaviour, such as entry saves, member logins and search.
  • Integrations: syncing entries or members with a CRM, payment provider, mailing list or internal API.
  • Control-panel tools: reports and admin screens for your team.

Updating old and abandoned add-ons

Many sites are held back by one add-on whose developer stopped updating it. If its licence allows, we update it for EE7 and PHP 8. If not, we build a replacement and move the content it stores. This is often much cheaper than rebuilding the site. See PHP 8 compatibility for the common errors.

How we build them

We follow ExpressionEngine's add-on structure, so the add-on installs, updates and uninstalls like any other. EE7's command-line code generators give each add-on a standard starting point. You get the full source code, it's yours, and we document every template tag and setting.

How it works

  1. 1

    Brief

You describe what the add-on should do; we ask about edge cases and who will use it.

  2. 2

    Spec and quote

A short written spec and a fixed price.

  3. 3

    Build on staging

Developed against a copy of your site and EE version.

  4. 4

    Review

You test it in staging with real content.

  5. 5

    Install and document

Installed on live, with usage notes for your team.

What clients say

Quoted word for word from our public Fiverr and Clutch profiles.

"This was the third time we engaged with Arjun. We needed help transferring an ExpressionEngine website to a subdomain and a new host. Challenges included backing up a relatively large site; troubleshooting some issues with ExpressionEngine, css and php; and then performing QA on the new site. The project took longer than expected, but Arjun was responsive and professional throughout the process. It was a pleasure working with him and we would work with him again in the future."

Questions

Who owns the add-on?

You do. You get the full source code and can use it on any of your sites.

Can you sell it on the EE add-on store?

If you'd like to publish it, we can prepare it for the store. That's your decision as the owner.

Can you fix an add-on someone else wrote?

Yes, if its licence allows changes. Many commercial add-ons do.

Will it work on EE8?

We build to EE7's add-on structure, and the EE team has said it knows of no breaking changes between EE6 and EE8. We'll test it on EE8 when it's released.
